Elation and Heartbreak

Outside of the Games themselves, the US Olympic Track and Field Trials are arguably the most electric 10 days of track and field in the world, especially if you're an American viewer with a dog in the fight! With another meet officially done and dusted, the top three athletes in each event have booked tickets for France. (You can ignore the nuances around points and standards – this top-three rule applies 99% of the time.)

The stories, the stakes, the emotion, the pressure. It’s wild, and the combination of elation and heartbreak packed into Hayward Field creates the most insane atmosphere imaginable.
