The best images from a rain soaked edition of the famous mile
We were lucky to have one of the world's leading running photogs, Jason Suarez, on deck at the 2018 New Balance 5th Avenue Mile.
The race, now in its 27th year, attracts a who's who of American running talent, and this year was no exception.
On the women's side, Jenny Simpson was looking to defend her title for the 6th consecutive year from the likes of Emma Coburn, Colleen Quigley, Cory McGee, and others.
On the men's side, all eyes were on the eternally youthful 4-time winner Nick Willis, as well as Matt Centrowitz, Jake Wightman, and more.
Stopping the clock in a time of 4:18.38, Jenny Simpson incredibly won her 6th consecutive 5th Avenue Mile.
Second was Colleen Quigley (4:19.20), with Emma Coburn taking third (4:20.19).
"It's supposed to be fun. We're supposed to put on a show. I had to go. I had no choice.
My heart wouldn't let me run any other way."
Sam Parsons, Tinman Elite
Jake Wightman from the UK took the win in 3:53.30 from Nick Willis (3:54.20) with Neil Gourley (3:55.30) coming in 3rd.
