Gallery: The 2019 Great Ocean Road Marathon

The Great Ocean Road Running Festival boasts what is surely the most stunning marathon course in Australia; a 44km course that starts in Lorne, and winds its way along the jagged coastline on the Great Ocean Road.

The undulating terrain means this is not a PR course, rather those who pin on a number are coming for the unique opportunity to run on one of the most famous roads in Australia.

The event finishes in Apollo Bay, a quaint seaside village that is the gateway to The Otways National Park and The Twelve Apostles.

The course passes several small towns on its way to the finish in Apollo Bay, which would bring back childhood memories for many. Areas like Cumberland River and Wye River being popular holiday destinations for families from all over Victoria.

Nick Earl led the men's race from the start and wasn't challenged throughout.

It's one thing to run along the Great Ocean Road, it must be another thing all together to soak up those views all alone at the front of the race.

On the women's side, Rhiannon Snipe was able to defend her title from 2018, winning by nearly 12 minutes in the end.
