Welcome to New York
It's Been Waitin' For You
The New York City Marathon, the greatest marathon in the world. Okay, I might be a bit biased as a hometowner, but the final race of the fall majors never disappoints. It’s never the fastest, but, man oh man, the energy is truly unmatched. The local running community opens its arms, and the global community descends on the cheer zones, which seem to continuously flow throughout the course. Ask anyone – the hardest part of the race is to not get caught up in the energy and then run too fast.
Of course, I should mention Tamirat Tola breaking the men’s course record and Hellen Obiri completing the Boston–NYC double for 2023. But this race puts community first and that’s what makes it so special.
For Tempo, this year was particularly memorable as we teamed up with New Balance to send five amateur runners from Australia and New Zealand. We’ll catch up with them for a recap very soon. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, enjoy the scenes below – and plan your trip to NYC asap.
